Dr. Michael Andronico

Dr. Michael Andronico, a former Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, has been providing compassionate and effective therapy in his private practice in Somerset, NJ for over 50. He offers specialized services in individual therapy, couples counseling, and group therapy, working with both men and women.

Dr. Andronico is recognized as a leader in the field of group counseling, having collaborated with renowned psychologists such as the Gouldings. He co-developed Filial Therapy, which teaches parents to conduct play therapy with their children, alongside Bernard Guerney. Additionally, he has worked with Braulio Montalvo, a prominent figure in Family Therapy.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Andronico has held numerous leadership positions within the American Psychological Association (APA). He has served as President of Division 51, the Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity (SPSMM), and was the one of the founding members and 4th President of Division 49 (Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy). Currently, he is a member and past President of the New Jersey Group Psychotherapy Society and has also led Section One (Group Psychotherapy) of Division 29 (Psychotherapy). Additionally, he founded and was the first President of the Somerset County Psychological Society.

Dr. Andronico's contributions to the field include editing "Men in Groups: Insights, Interventions, and Psychoeducational Work," published by the American Psychological Association. He holds a Diplomate in Group Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a Fellow of APA Divisions 29, 42, 49, and 51. As a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and the recipient of the Outstanding Practitioner Award from Division 51 of the APA, Dr. Andronico's dedication to his clients and his profession is well-recognized and deeply respected.
