Gina C. Torino, Ph.D.

Dr. Gina C. Torino is a dedicated and experienced clinician who creates a welcoming and supportive therapeutic environment for her clients. She aims to help individuals gain deeper levels of self-awareness, enabling them to make more meaningful and informed choices in their lives. With a strong emphasis on cultural competency, Dr. Torino's approach is integrative, combining psychodynamic, person-centered, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral treatment strategies.

Dr. Torino specializes in working with adults and adolescents dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, career transitions, relationship difficulties, and discrimination across various settings. Her commitment to fostering understanding and growth in her clients is evident in her sensitive and informed therapeutic practices.

Dr. Torino received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University and is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at SUNY Empire State College. As an accomplished author and researcher, she is the lead editor of "Microaggression Theory: Influence and Implications" (2019) and has published extensively on racial cultural microaggressions and identity development. Her scholarly work and consulting expertise have made significant contributions to the fields of psychology and education.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Torino has conducted numerous diversity training workshops for esteemed organizations, including the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY), City University of New York (CUNY), and the Leadership Council on Inclusion at the State University of New York (SUNY). Her workshops are known for enhancing participants' awareness of racial-cultural biases and equipping them with strategies to create more inclusive environments.
